Redwork: The Emperor of Atlantis

I first became involved with Catherine Heard’s project Redwork: The Emperor of Atlantis in May 2021. Over two years, I worked on numerous embroidery series for the project, such as World War 1, Women, Refugees, Medicine, Ukraine, and Armenian Genocide.

As Senior Studio Assistant, my responsibilities included: researching images for historical accuracy, locating credible sources, generating captions, drawing patterns on Illustrator, training students to develop patterns and image research skills, reviewing student patterns and providing feedback, maintaining a checklist of each student's progress on patterns, collaborating with guest artists, organizing files on the cloud, creating webpages and uploading patterns to the website, organizing and maintaining participant information, writing and designing newsletters, assisting in workshops, sewing patterns together, and embroidering.
